This summer I am leading two expeditions here — in July and in August. I am Lyudmila Lykova, a former financial analyst and now a methodologist and author of transformational journeys.
My audience is women in business. Those who are used to making dozens of decisions every day, carrying responsibility, and keeping everything under total control.
When such a woman arrives on an author-led tour to Kamchatka, her main task is to surrender. To take off the armor. Sometimes there is simply no cell service here — and that is the best therapy. We don’t look at screens. Instead, we have deep conversations, spend evenings playing meaningful games, and relearn how to feel the taste for life.
The locals are a phenomenon of their own. Harsh Kamchatka winters and unpredictable summers shape people who know how to appreciate the moment and don’t try to argue with the elements. We work with incredible guides.
One of them is a well-known Kamchatka fine art photographer. You would think that someone who has walked every hill here would have grown used to the landscapes. I ask him about it. He shakes his head: “I still wake up every day and can’t believe I live in the most beautiful place in the world.”
Right now we are staying by the shore, in the historic district of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky — Seroglazka. Once, there were only tiny wooden fishermen’s houses here.
Today, locals are rebuilding them, creating chalets and intimate boutique mini-hotels. We are staying in one of them.
Impeccable cleanliness, stylish room interiors, and most importantly — huge floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows. A view of the mirror-like ocean surface and volcanoes!
It was here, looking through the glass at Avacha Bay and the gateway to the Pacific Ocean, that I understood the physics of true energy.
To recharge, you don’t need complicated practices. You simply need to wake up early in the morning and see the first rays of sunlight touch the icy water.
The energy here is infused into the very air. You are in absolute warmth and comfort, yet in front of you lies wild nature. This contrast recharges your inner batteries better than any vacation on a sun lounger.
Today we plan to descend to the wild coast of the Pacific Ocean. And in the evening, we will grill the freshest flounder, which we caught ourselves during a morning sea trip.
We’ll order sushi rolls, pour some wine, and sit down to board games to the sound of waves crashing against the shore.
This is the true premium vacation of the modern world — when you have the luxury of being yourself in a safe, beautiful, and authentic environment.
I know for sure that I will keep bringing women’s groups here again and again.
Kamchatka transforms the scale of your personality. But this is only the beginning. Next year, I am preparing new expeditions — again to Kamchatka, and also to the rugged Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands.
We will travel to Iturup Island with its fantastical white wild beaches, to switch off our phones once again — and switch ourselves back on.
