Millennials are more likely to tolerate overload, endless approvals, and outdated processes, gradually burning out. Generation Z, however, is not ready to put up with strict control and a lack of flexibility—they make the decision to quit much more quickly.
According to Galina Abyzova, “In this story, what matters more than the figure of 83.7% are the reasons that may lie behind it. As an entrepreneur with many years of experience, I have repeatedly been convinced that a person’s attitude toward work does not begin with an employment contract but is largely formed within the family.
If a child is accustomed from an early age to work, responsibility, respect for other people’s time, and the results of their own efforts, then as an adult they accept workplace discipline much more easily and understand that success does not come immediately but through knowledge, experience, and daily work.
Today, values have changed in many ways. Young people are more often taught to protect personal boundaries, seek comfort, and think about their own interests. This in itself is not bad. However, it is important not to lose the understanding that any profession implies not only rights but also responsibilities.
Over the years, I have noticed a pattern. People who were taught from childhood to work and take responsibility are generally ready to learn, overcome difficulties, take responsibility, and grow professionally. It is often from them that strong specialists, managers, and entrepreneurs emerge.
Among young people there are many talented, hardworking, and goal-oriented professionals. But one cannot ignore another trend: sometimes burnout, a bad employer, or low salary is cited as the reason for dismissal, although the problem is not only that. Sometimes a person simply lacks the habit of overcoming difficulties, the desire to develop, and the understanding that high results always require serious commitment.
Therefore, in my view, today we should talk not so much about burnout as about fostering an attitude toward work. If responsibility, discipline, respect for work, and the desire to be useful are instilled from childhood, a person knows how to cope with workloads, grow professionally, and achieve their goals. These qualities remain the foundation of a successful career regardless of generation,” Galina Abyzova emphasizes.
