“The next generation must always be prepared from an early age, involving children as much as possible in all aspects of the family business. A family enterprise quite often unites more than one generation. In order for a business to continue to exist and be passed from parents to children, it is important to engage the younger generation in what you do. After all, seeing how busy their parents are running a business, children often do not want to continue the family company. There may be other reasons as well: interests in a different field, a lack of desire to pursue entrepreneurial activity, or the wish to move to another region.
Our company, Gosenergotarif (LLC “GET”), which provides expert evaluation services in the energy and housing and utilities sectors across Russia, is a kind of starting point for an entrepreneurial dynasty—a first-generation business that will certainly be passed on to our sons, Alexander and Semyon, in the future.
They are already actively involved in the family business and bring a creative touch to the company’s work. They help create databases, work with registers, and systematize information. They even have their own project—they want to develop a software product tailored to our field. They also carry out specific assignments related to additional services.
My husband Sergey and I naturally see them as successors and heirs, and we raise them through daily work. On their part, there is a genuine interest in developing the family business, a serious attitude toward work, and an understanding of the responsibility they will face in the future.
In addition to responsibility for the family business, we strive to raise our sons as socially active citizens. We do this by setting our own example and involving them in the business community through various large-scale events. The results appeared almost immediately—the boys began to view business, our work, their assignments, their studies, and people around them differently. In 2023, our younger son Semyon received the “Hope of Kuzbass” medal for his active participation in college life. And in terms of moral qualities, the boys take after their parents—they never pass by someone else’s misfortune. So we are raising a very достойная next generation. We cannot afford to lower the bar!
In addition to family members, the company benefits from a team of qualified experts with more than 100 years of combined professional experience. We value and take care of our professionals, finding an individual approach to each of them and extending the principles of family spirit to them. After all, at the heart of everything for us are simple human qualities: compassion, social responsibility, and an inner drive to do everything the right way.
For me personally, a family business is a kind of code of trust that shows a company is focused on long-term development and future prospects, that it has a name and a very special responsibility, because people are risking their family’s reputation.
Moreover, a stable family enterprise is support for future generations, a cause that unites, strengthens bonds, preserves traditions, and also a reliable building block in the foundation of a healthy national economy and the country’s prosperity,” Tatiana Ladutko is convinced.
